Rules and decisions

If we take something down

Every decision comes with the reason, the rule it rests on and a reference.

Updated 30 October 2026

What we can decide

  • Take a listing down.
  • Turn down a change you made to a listing.
  • Suspend an account, until a date or until we lift it.
  • Close an account.

What the notice tells you

Every decision comes with a notice that says:

  1. What happened.
  2. Which rule it rests on.
  3. Who decided: a person on our team or the automated check, and on what day.
  4. A reference.
  5. How to challenge it.

You get a notification, and the notice stays on the listing in My listings, or on your account screen.

After a listing is taken down

Buyers cannot see it, and it does not come back up on its own. Some notices say you can list the item again once the problem is gone.

If we change our mind

If we look again and find the decision was wrong, the notice says so, with the date. A listing we put back up says Put back up and the day.
